Measures in place to deter, detect shoplifting

We thank Ms June Cheah-Nicholls for her letter “Self-service does not mean helping oneself to free goods” (Nov 19), and for bringing this incident to our attention.

Our stores are equipped with security features to deter and detect shoplifting. All alleged shoplifting cases are referred to the police for necessary action. We also work closely with the police on campaigns to educate the community that crime does not pay.
