Moderation should be key in any govt restructuring

In “Streamline govt bodies to help municipal office” (Aug 27), the letter writer reasons that there is a need to streamline some of the government agencies, and even ministries, to make the Municipal Services Office more efficient and to reduce bureaucracy.

In “Streamline govt bodies to help municipal office” (Aug 27), the letter writer reasons that there is a need to streamline some of the government agencies, and even ministries, to make the Municipal Services Office more efficient and to reduce bureaucracy.

There is nothing wrong with that reasoning except that all ministries and government agencies are ultimately linked to one another. Would having one big organisation to handle matters be the most efficient way?

Like in most if not all things, moderation is needed. Agencies and ministries should be combined as much as it is reasonably possible. In the real world, it is easier to make and implement decisions in a smaller set-up than in a big corporation.
