MOE, schools display crisis management skills

With the Pollutant Standards Index at hazardous levels last week, I applaud the Education Minister for making the decision to shut down primary and secondary schools on Friday.

The interests of students were looked after, while schools remained open for those whose parents were unable to make alternative arrangements (“Teachers swing into action as schools close”; Sept 26).

Well-considered plans such as putting children in air-conditioned libraries and back-up plans for parents in case they face difficulties at the last minute clearly demonstrated the ability of the Ministry of Education and the schools to manage crises when they happen.
