I am pleased to read, from the letter “Road safety is a shared responsibility” (Aug 7), about the initiatives being taken so that we can have safer roads.

However, motorists do not seem to be taking one aspect of bad driving seriously.

Many motorists still do not signal in advance when making a turn, and many do not even signal when they wish to change lanes. Many also do not signal when they wish to stop by the side of the road.

Such behaviour can be dangerous. I hope that motorists do not take the attitude that if others do not signal, then they need not do so either.

The Land Transport Authority and the police should look into this matter, too.

Otherwise, we will continue to have many irresponsible and careless drivers on the road.
