Move to allow window grilles on condos will enhance safety
The Building and Construction Authority is seeking to forbid Management Corporation Strata Title councils to prevent owners from installing safety features such as grilles (Stricter controls on MCSTs proposed to beef up governance; Aug 2).
This is a step forward for safety and for enhancing the functionality of one’s home. With more aesthetic designs in the market, such grilles could even promote the aesthetics of a block’s facade, and not destroy it.
As condominium units get smaller and buildings get taller, it makes sense for owners to make fuller use of their home space without fearing for their loved ones’ safety.
