National Day replicas of Mr Lee’s red box?

The number of hours some of our citizens spent queuing up to view Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s red box at the National Museum amazed me (“Crowds throng museum to see Mr Lee’s ‘red box’”; April 4).

We should perhaps consider putting a small replica of this box in the SG50 National Day fun pack that will be distributed to households.

Depending on its size, the replica box could be used to store compact discs, thumb drives or jewellery.

More importantly, it would serve as a reminder of our late founding father’s work ethos and consummate determination to turn this little red dot into a prosperous First World nation.

Additional boxes could be made available for those who wish to buy them, with the proceeds going to, say, the Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism.
