I thank President Tony Tan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for coming to the SEA Games’ netball finals.

This gave our players great encouragement and confidence. The atmosphere and the support given by the crowd led by our leaders enabled our players to triumph over Malaysia, which was a strong team.

I also wish to congratulate Netball Singapore president Jessica Tan for the win. It is heartening to see the sport grow so much from the days of its first generation of leaders.

I look forward to netball becoming a regular feature at the SEA Games, as it is a great testament to the athleticism and team spirit of women.
