Opposition should enter the fray with logic and facts

The Electoral Boundaries Review Committee’s scrapping of the Joo Chiat Single Member Constituency has caused unnecessary but inevitable speculation and created an opportunity for opposition accusations of gerrymandering.

Nonetheless, the Opposition should convert its disappointment into active preparation for the coming polls.

More importantly, the various parties should reach a consensus on avoiding three-cornered fights and smear campaigns.

The Opposition should debate government policies and proposals rigorously and in an enlightened manner; any criticisms must be substantiated with logic and facts.

They should also put forward and elaborate on their alternative manifestos and views during their electoral campaigns.

That would offer a level playing field for voters to scrutinise and judge each party carefully and stringently, in order to cast their votes wisely.
