Pokemon Go craze can benefit S’pore’s retail, F&B, tourism

Pokemon Go has taken the world by storm; it has now surpassed Twitter in daily users and has beaten Instagram in usage time (“5 reasons to go crazy over Pokemon Go”; July 14).

Pokemon Go has taken the world by storm; it has now surpassed Twitter in daily users and has beaten Instagram in usage time (“5 reasons to go crazy over Pokemon Go”; July 14).

Though there have been reports of Pokemon Go users who were so enthralled by the game that they lost their bearings momentarily, I see its positives, especially for Singapore’s retail and food and beverage sectors.

The Singapore Tourism Board and the Media Development Authority could collaborate to see how these sectors can jump on this new phenomenon to drive customer growth. Many of our landmarks could also be included to drive tourist awareness.

Singapore must ride the wave of the latest information technology to be relevant in a hyperactive business environment.
