Political discourse absent in Our Singapore Conversation
I feel heartened to see fellow Singaporeans highlighting our cherished values and collective ideals, such as a resilient and inclusive society, in Our Singapore Conversation. Notably absent, however, is the theme of politics.

For the conversation to be a meaningful exercise to envision Singapore’s future, we must not shy away from political discourse.
Should we continue having the first-past-the-post electoral system or consider alternatives, such as mixed member proportional voting or a proportional representation system?
What type of leaders do we desire to lead us into uncharted waters in the future? Do we place a premium on problem solvers or yearn more for empathetic leaders who are better attuned to the ground?
Such questions should be given serious thought in our post-materialist, maturing society. We should articulate the political landscape we desire for our collective future.
