Private-hire car firms can make taxi services here more competitive

I applaud the news that the Government has embraced the new private-hire car entrants. Taxi operators must now rise to the challenge (“Grab, Uber drivers to be licensed under new regime”; April 13).

With these new entrants, we will not be at the mercy of taxi drivers who often drive past us, pretending not to see our waving hands or putting up the “On Call” sign. We will now have a wider choice of cars. Chua Kim Choo
