Rainy evening brings out the kindness of strangers
On a wet and cold Tuesday evening, the kind acts of two persons warmed my heart.
On a wet and cold Tuesday evening, the kind acts of two persons warmed my heart.
My wife, daughter and I were at the main entrance of West Mall, figuring out how to cross the road to the car park without getting unduly wet in the heavy rain, despite having umbrellas.
A woman approached me to ask if we needed her to shelter us across the road with her umbrella.
I declined politely, showing her our umbrellas, and complimented her on her kindness.
She quickly deflected my compliments to a teenage girl nearby who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and carrying an umbrella. Apparently, the girl had been sheltering strangers across the road.
When I noticed her, she was making her kind offer to a middle-aged man. It was a privilege to witness the kind acts of two wonderful ladies in that short time.
On behalf of all recipients of their kindness, I thank them for looking after the people around them, even strangers. They have made the world more beautiful.
