Refine Re-employment Act guidelines to better protect mature workers

It has been reported that the re-employment age will be raised from July (“Re-employment age to be raised to 67”; Jan 10).

This is a good move in view of the ageing population, and will help to keep good workers in their jobs.

But are these workers re-employed on the same salary terms and medical benefits?

The Ministry of Manpower should go further and stipulate the guidelines that better protect older workers aged 62 and over.

After all, the workers whom employers want to re-employ are often staff who are above average in performance.
