I thank the Defence Science and Technology Agency engineers who narrowed down the source of the Circle Line signal interference (“Faulty hardware on single train identified as cause of CCL issues”; Nov 12).

In the aviation industry, every pilot must go through a checklist to ascertain safety before takeoff.

Before a train leaves the depot, the driver or officer should likewise have a checklist procedure to ensure that everything is working fine.

I also suggest replicating signal interference to simulate exact conditions during the tests of the new signalling system on the North-South Line (“Launch of new train signalling system delayed for more tests”; Oct 27).

It is important that the new signalling system reacts properly and promptly to unexpected abnormalities, as the distance between trains will be shorter.
