Road works leaving behind uneven surfaces
It seems that the “rideability” of our roads, especially minor ones, is not as good as before.
It seems that the “rideability” of our roads, especially minor ones, is not as good as before.
Although the level of road maintenance is generally high in Singapore, the good work is being undone by the proliferation of trenching and excavation works, and the subsequent uneven patching-up of road surfaces. This is occurring quite frequently all over the island.
In particular, it seems that much of the backfill for the trenches and excavations was not properly compacted before the road surface is bolstered by a bituminous layer. The backfill and the bituminous layer settle after a week or two, and the effect is far from ideal.
Would the relevant agencies responsible for such works please look into this?
