‘Smart’ lighting should not be based on time of day

More than 1,000 sensors would be used to control and monitor things like traffic and street lights. Lighting in parks would be adjusted based on factors such as the time of day and motion detected.
Adjusting park lighting according to natural illumination or brightness is more relevant than doing so based on the time of day.
This is particularly important for street lighting as visibility could be low due to overcast skies or during a storm, regardless of the time of day.
Street lighting should be programmed to switch on automatically even in the day when natural illumination is low to reduce the chances of accidents happening due to poor visibility.
