S’pore should emulate Taipei’s transport infrastructure
Taipei, with a population of 5.7 million over 376 sqm, is the seventh-largest city in the world, ranked by population density.

But pedestrians, cyclists and motorists there are able to co-exist safely. Parallel but clearly demarcated separate paths are provided for each group of road users in the Taipei city centre.
Singapore’s population density, in comparison, is ranked lower at 29th. Our lower population density together with our higher GDP per capita should place Singapore in a good position to match, if not exceed, the standard of Taipei’s transport infrastructure.
