Terrorism experts can try dialogue idea

I am glad the writer of “Constructive dialogue may be better way to forestall terror” (Sept 23) agreed with my letter that starting a dialogue may be the best way forward (“Dialogue may break terrorism impasse”; Sept 22).

I am glad the writer of “Constructive dialogue may be better way to forestall terror” (Sept 23) agreed with my letter that starting a dialogue may be the best way forward (“Dialogue may break terrorism impasse”; Sept 22).

Likewise, I agree with him that the notion about not talking to terrorists is misguided. It may be fruitful for like-minded terrorism experts, during their international forums, to explore and discuss the feasibility of starting such dialogues.

Many people may hesitate to broach the idea because of groupthink, or they wish to be seen as politically correct.

I may be over-optimistic, but if we can alleviate terrorism through constructive dialogue, there would be less need to “prevent” attacks.
