For transparency, display lift maintenance certificates

The lift at our neighbourhood multi-storey carpark has not been spared from frequent breakdowns. My family experienced it once and we managed to free ourselves by chance. Now, we have a phobia every time we use the lift, not knowing what may happen next.

The Housing and Development Board should know the figures for lift breakdowns and look into them seriously. We do not want anything tragic to take place in our estate in Sembawang.

There was a time when a lift maintenance certificate was displayed inside each lift. Can we get that practice back so that these checks are transparent to the public? It will also help to eliminate lift users’ fear and anxiety. Right now, it seems to be a grey and unknown situation.
