Vendors should not make customers verify identity over phone

I wish to point out that vendors such as delivery companies, telcos and banks have a bad habit of calling and getting us to divulge our details for identity verification.

If the vendors have our phone numbers, they should know who we are. We should be the ones asking them to verify their identity, especially when their calls are not displayed on caller ID. These vendors, especially banks, should stop this unsecured practice.
