Wide range of vegan options in Singapore
I refer to the report “Singapore is Asia’s second most vegan-friendly city: Peta” (Dec 27, online). We deserve to be number one for the multicultural variety of our vegan dishes.

Furthermore, we can enjoy vegan options at non-vegan eateries, even those serving mostly meat — from economy rice stalls to inexpensive restaurants, such as Subway, McDonald’s, Sakae Sushi, Thai Express and Hans, to fine dining establishments, such as Bacchanalia and Saint Pierre.
We only have to request vegan dishes clearly and politely, and most eateries would comply gladly. The rise in vegan dining here shows that people in Singapore no longer fit the kiasu, care-only-about-themselves stereotype.
We instead look out for others, whether they are low-income workers, people with special needs, abused domestic animals or farm animals such as chickens.
