Zero impact on nature often not possible in S’pore

Several green groups have called for the Cross Island MRT Line to have zero impact on the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. But zero impact on the natural environment is often not possible in Singapore for obvious reasons.

Singapore tries to comply with international environmental standards, for example by minimising our carbon footprint. We have also volunteered to help our neighbours with sustainable development.

The challenge is in countries such as Indonesia, where forests many times the size of Singapore are burnt or harvested for timber yearly.
