Afghan and US presidents discuss fight against terrorism

KABUL (Afghanistan) — The Afghan government says US President-elect Donald Trump and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani have emphasised their joint commitment to fighting terrorism in a phone conversation.

KABUL (Afghanistan) — The Afghan government says US President-elect Donald Trump and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani have emphasised their joint commitment to fighting terrorism in a phone conversation.

Mr Ghani’s office said in a statement on Saturday (Dec 3) that Mr Ghani congratulated Mr Trump on his victory and expressed hopes for further cooperation between the countries under Mr Trump’s administration.

The statement said that Mr Ghani pointed out dedication of Afghan security forces in defending Afghan territorial integrity and expressed admiration for the sacrifices of US and NATO troops in the fight against terrorism in Afghanistan. AP
