LOS ANGELES — Part of the Colossus, one of the most iconic rollercoasters in the United States, caught fire and collapsed yesterday (Sept 8).

The fire had broken out on the towering wooden structure at Six Flags during renovation works.

No injuries were reported during the incident, Six Flags said in a statement.

After 36 years in service, the wooden roller coaster was shuttered and set to be replaced with a new ride called Twisted Colossus.

The park was closed yesterday and the cause of the fire is still being investigated. AGENCIES
