WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is getting a head start on turning a year older.

Mr Obama turns 54 on Tuesday (Aug 4).

In what has become an annual birthday tradition, the president started celebrating today (Aug 1) by taking a trio of friends from his Hawaii childhood for a golf outing at Andrews Air Force Base.

The group then spends the night at the secluded Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland’s Catoctin Mountains.

The White House said the other members of Mr Obama’s foursome are his longtime friends Mr Mike Ramos, Mr Bobby Titcomb and Mr Greg Orme.

Mr Obama planned to return to the White House tomorrow afternoon. AP
