The iPhone maker is overhauling its nearly 480 stores worldwide, starting with its new location in San Francisco.

Apple provided a glimpse at its revised approach to retailing Thursday (May 19), the 15th anniversary of the company’s first stores.

The San Francisco store is supposed to conjure the ambiance of a town square where people can gaze through giant windows to savour views of the city as they stroll through spacious aisles.

It also features a 42-foot sliding glass door that opens up to San Francisco’s busiest shopping district.

Apple says its other stores will be converted to the same concept over the next few years. AP
