KUALA LUMPUR — An UMNO division chief has confirmed that a closed-door briefing between Prime Minister Najib Razak and party division representatives on the debt-laden 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) will take place this afternoon (June 14).

Cheras UMNO division chief Datuk Seri Syed Ali Alhabshee told Malay Mail Online that the briefing is slated to start at 1.30pm at the Putra World Trade Centre.

“Yes, I just got word that it is on for today, but I am not attending it as it is for division information chiefs.

“Closed-door session, and it should start at 1.30pm,” the UMNO man said.

Earlier today, The Star reported that PM Najib would be briefing Umno leaders on the controversy surrounding the debt-laden 1MDB.

PM Najib has accused his detractors of using the 1MDB controversy as a ploy to attack him.

The prime minister has insisted that the law will be enforced should any wrongdoing be found in the probes on 1MDB, which is facing a huge debt burden of RM42 billion. MALAY MAIL ONLINE
