SHAH ALAM — PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said today (April 2) she may have to stand in again for her husband, jailed Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, who lost his Permatang Pauh seat after the Pardons Board rejected his petition.

“The party will decide (on candidate), we will have a few meetings and if I’m deemed to be the torchbearer candidate, I think I will have to stand it again (sic),” Ms Wan Azizah who is also the Kajang state assemblyman told reporters at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly hall.

She said, however, that the matter still depends on whether voters in Anwar’s stronghold would accept such a decision, but expressed confidence that she would still be received warmly.

“I know them and I have been around (in Permatang Pauh) for some time. I just took the back step after Anwar came out (of prison).

“I feel if I were to go, I would still be recognised and I hope I can give the service that the people (there) hope for,” she added. MALAY MAIL ONLINE
