PETALING JAYA – One of three Bangladeshi construction workers missing after a concrete span collapsed at the MRT worksite in Kota Damansara last night has been found dead, according to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department.

The department’s operations assistant director, Mohd Sani Harul, said the body of Mohammad Elahi Hossain, 27, was found at 2.30am today (Aug 19) trapped under the collapsed span.

The search was continuing for the two other workers, Mohamad Faruk Khan and Mohammad Alauddin Mollik, he told reporters at the worksite near the former Rubber Research Institute (RRI) land.

The three workers went missing after the 490-tonne span collapsed at 8.30 pm yesterday. Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) director of strategic communications and public relations Amir Mahmood Razak said today the body was sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

“At the time of the incident, four Bangladeshi workers were at work. One of them is safe,” he said.

Amir Mahmood said MRT would investigate the cause of the accident to determine whether procedures were strictly adhered to and take action. THE MALAY MAIL ONLINE
