First Tesla e-cars to arrive in Malaysia next month

KUALA LUMPUR — The first batch of Tesla electric vehicles are expected to reach Malaysia before Oct 5, automotive news site Electrek reported on Wednesday (Sept 28).

KUALA LUMPUR — The first batch of Tesla electric vehicles are expected to reach Malaysia before Oct 5, automotive news site Electrek reported on Wednesday (Sept 28).

The vehicles were ordered for the use of government-linked companies based on a leasing system and was ordered by Prime Minister Najib Razak during an official visit to California.

The order was for 100 Model S sedans, which retail for US$59,000 (S$80,205) up to US$134,500 depending on specifications in the US.

The cars are expected to arrive in time for an announcement on an electric vehicle plan in Malaysia, the report said, and the cars have also been duty exempted.

According to local automotive news site Paultan, the current shipment arriving to Malaysia is for the first 10 cars of the total orders. MALAY MAIL ONLINE
