Former Malaysian minister, PM's aide in deadly helicopter crash

KUALA LUMPUR — Rompin MP Jamaluddin Jarjis was among the six people involved in a deadly helicopter crash in Semenyih this evening (April 4), according media reports.

KUALA LUMPUR — Six bodies have been found at the site of a helicopter crash at Jalan Sungai Lalang, Kampung Pasir Baru in Semenyih, said the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department.

The Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi told Star Online that Rompin MP Jamaluddin Jarjis was among the six people on board the ill-fated helicopter.

The news portal also reported that the other passengers were businessman Mr Robert Tan; private secretary-general in Prime Minister's Office, Mr Azlim Alias; pilot Captain Cliff Fournier, owner of Chempaka Aviatio; an individual named Ajdiana Baiziera and a bodyguard, identified as Raskan.

News portal, SuaraTV, quoting sources, reported that the helicopter, AS 3655N2 Dauphin (9M-1GB), was said to have caught fire before it crashed.

The victims were also said to be returning from the wedding reception of Prime Minister Najib Razak's daughter in Taman Tasik Sultan Abu Bakar, in Pekan, Pahang.

The privately owned chopper was heading to Subang from Kuantan when it downed.

A spokesman of the Kajang Fire and Rescue Department said the station received an emergency call at 4.57pm.

"According to preliminary information received, the helicopter crashed and burst into flames at about 4.55pm," reported Bernama. THE MALAYSIAN INSIDER
