Johor Umno leader charged with consuming drugs at police HQ

KUALA LUMPUR — Umno grassroots leader Mohamed Mustafa Abdul Kadir has claimed trial to abusing drugs last year.

The Bakri division vice-chief was accused of self-administering a methamphetamine-type of drug at the Narcotics Department of the Malacca police contingent headquarters in Bukit Beruang at 6pm on August 1, 2016, The Star reported on Wednesday (March 29).

The charges against the 57-year-old were under Section 15(1)(a) and of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, to be read together under Section 38B of the same Act.

If found guilty, he can be punished with a jail term of up to two years, a RM5,000 (S$1,579.75) fine, or both.

Mohamed Mustafa was represented by lawyer Salmi Hamdan Sabran while Shazreen Nadia Saaban prosecuted.

The Magistrate’s Court in Ayer Keroh, Malacca fixed bail at RM2,000 with one surety and scheduled April 27 for case mention. MALAY MAIL ONLINE
