Once the rising star of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition’s largest party, the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s 16-year saga in and out of courts for sodomy charges has kept Malaysia on a political edge and shone the international spotlight on the country.
