PAROI (Malaysia) — Amid allegations that public money has been used to fund Barisan Nasional’s (BN) election campaigns, Mr Najib Razak declared today (Aug 1) that he has no qualms revealing the source of the coalition’s political allocations.

The BN chairman said, however, that he would only do so if opposition parties follow suit.

“I can explain the source of political funding only if the opposition also agrees to do the same, DAP and PKR especially,” Mr Najib said, using the initials of the Democratic Action Party and Parti Keadilan Rakyat.

“I don’t mind, I can list who donates to the party to be transparent but DAP doesn’t agree to publicising political funding.

“Why? Because they have something to do hide,” he said during his speech to Seremban United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) delegates.

The UMNO president also said he will be pushing for a motion in Parliament to ensure transparency in political funding.

“I will bring this to Parliament again, suggest to propose a new law. What I do is for the importance of the party, not for personal gain,” Mr Najib said. MALAY MAIL ONLINE
