JAKARTA — The Jakarta Globe has obtained from a reliable source a list of the ministers expected to be named in an announcement later this afternoon (Oct 26) and sworn into office on Monday. This list has been confirmed through two independent sources.

Several of the names expected to be announced differ from a confirmed list obtained by Investor Daily last week. Among the notable changes are the removal of Mr Kuntoro Mangkusubroto from the cabinet lineup, as well as the placement of Mr Anies Baswedan as minister of primary and secondary education and culture.

One immediately striking feature of the list is the high number of politicians from President Joko Widodo’s coalition and associates of former president Megawati Soekarnoputri, Mr Widodo’s party patron. These include Ms Megawati’s daughter, Ms Puan Maharani, as coordinating minister for human development and culture, and Ms Susi Pudjiastuti, who runs an aviation business, handling maritime affairs — the centrepiece of Mr Widodo’s policy platform. The Globe counts at least 19 such appointees in the list.

Also apparent is the purge of all ministers from the previous administration of Mr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, including highly acclaimed officials such as Mr Marty Natalegawa, previously the foreign minister, and Mr M Chatib Basri, the finance minister. The only exception is Mr Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, who is expected to stay on as minister of religious affairs. THE JAKARTA GLOBE
