JOHOR BARU — A 24-year old Malaysian man faces the possibility of spending the next 100-years behind bars after pleading guilty to five counts of committing sodomy and molesting his two step-sons, aged 7 and 11.

The accused, who works as a caretaker at a prawn farm in Mersing was hauled to the Johor Baru Sessions Court on Monday (July 24) for allegedly committing the crime on the two minors at different dates and places between last April and July this year.

He was charged with two counts of committing the offence under Malaysia's Section 377C of the Penal Code for carnal intercourse against the order of nature, without consent.

He also faces another three under Section 377CA of the same law for having sexual connection with another person by introducing an object.

The accused faces a maximum of 20 year jail term for each offence including whipping.

The accused, who was unrepresented, told the court that he understood the repurcussion of pleading guilty to all five charges read to him before Sessions court judge Mohammad Khalid Ab. Karim.

He had allegedly committed the offence of molesting his seven year old stepson, by inserting his finger into the boy's anus.

The incident allegedly took place inside a house at his workplace between 8.30pm and 12am.

As for his 11-year old stepson, the accused is alleged to have committed two counts of sodomy and two counts of molestation by finger, during the same period between 8.30pm and 1am.

The offences allegedly happened in several locations including inside the suspect's car and in a keropok manufacturing factory in Mersing.

Deputy public prosecutor Suhaila Shefiuddin did not offer bail after the accused pleaded guilty to all counts.

The accused told the court he understood the charges when the judge asked him repeatedly about his plea, on whether he understood the gravity of the offences.

He however did not proceed with the sentencing as the case will be mentioned again in a Child Court on Aug 8 before sentence is passed. NEW STRAITS TIMES
