Dr Maliki on 5-day working visit to Middle East

SINGAPORE – Senior Minister of State for Defence and Foreign Affairs Dr Maliki Osman is on a five-day working visit to Israel, the Palestinian Territories and Jordan.

SINGAPORE – Senior Minister of State for Defence and Foreign Affairs Dr Maliki Osman is on a five-day working visit to Israel, the Palestinian Territories and Jordan.

Dr Maliki arrived in Israel on Sunday (Nov 6) and was hosted to lunch by Dr Michael Oren, the Deputy Minister in the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office.

During the lunch, Dr Maliki affirmed the excellent bilateral relations between both sides and had a wide-ranging discussion with Dr Oren on global developments, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in a statement on Sunday night.

Dr Maliki reiterated Singapore’s consistent position and longstanding support for the two-state solution with Israel and Palestine living side-by-side in peace and security.

The MFA’s statement added: “He expressed the hope that both sides would resume negotiations and make progress towards a just and durable solution.”

Dr Maliki will meet the Acting Director-General of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yuval Rotem on Monday before proceeding to the Palestinian Territories and Jordan, said MFA. Dr Maliki will be in the Middle East until Nov 10.
