KUALA LUMPUR — Federal religious authorities have labelled the rituals of “Raja Bomoh” as against Islam, after the self-proclaimed “Shaman King” failed to respond to their summon to explain his antics depicted in recent viral videos.

Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) director-general Othman Mustapha said the agency’s experts along with other state Islamic authorities concurred that Mr Ibrahim Mat Zin’s actions were detrimental to their religion.

“Jakim took the initiative to summon the said individual to explain himself on March 22, 2017 but he did not show up,” Mr Othman said in a statement.

He urged the public to not be deceived by the rituals conducted by the so-called “Shaman King”, stressing that such practices were against Islam.

The police are also investigating Ibrahim after receiving several police reports on his “Raja Bomoh” activities.

On March 17, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki reminded Malaysians not to spread Ibrahim’s rituals on social media as it would indirectly promote his activities.

Recently, videos and image recordings of various activities of the ‘Raja Bomoh’, who is also founder of the Seni Silat Gayung Ghaib Association of Malaysia went viral on social media after he performed a so-called beach ritual to “protect” Malaysia from North Korea’s attacks. MALAY MAIL ONLINE
