A 4-Room Flat With A Pet Café Theme? This Quirky Home Even Has A ‘Free Wi-Fi’ Sign, But That’s Not Its Most Outstanding Feature

For dog lovers, visiting a pet café and hanging out with resident canines over a cuppa is one of the best ways to relax. What’s even better than that? For this pawrent, it’s turning their own home into a pet café.

The homeowner of this four-room flat initially had a Scandinavian or Japanese interior style in mind for her new home. However, her interior designer wanted to shake things up a bit, and upon finding out that the homeowner loves dogs, proposed a pet café theme instead.

A pet café in a HDB flat — who would’ve thought?

Entertainment and lifestyle series #JustSwipeLah went on a home tour and hosts Jernelle Oh and Seow Sin Nee discovered that unlike most pet cafes where many dogs reside, only one rules the roost here: the furbulous Hachi.

Still, there are many touches to make the cosy apartment reminiscent of a pet café. Just look at the signs around that evoke maximum café vibes, like the ‘Welcome’ sign at the entrance and even a ‘Free wi-fi’ sign in the study.

Everyone has free wi-fi at home, but not everyone has a sign to remind you of that fact.

To create a more spacious living area, a wall between the living room and a bedroom was knocked down, and in its stead, a folding glass door was installed. This gives the homeowner the flexibility to open up the space for Hachi to wander around, or to close up the room and use it as a study if needed.

The study’s adorable feature wall reminds us of dogs in carrier bags on their way to an outing (perhaps to an actual pet café).  

Staying true to the homeowner’s original intention for a Scandi-style home, the common living and dining spaces are clad in a combination of light wood tones, whites and touches of green to liven up the area.

The warm, cosy theme carries on in the master bedroom, a light, bright sanctuary punctuated with muted shades of green and wood tones.

There’s more dog paraphernalia in the bedroom in line with the pet café theme. Over here, a shiba inu poster and a unique pendant lamp that houses all the homeowner’s favourite canine collectibles take pride of place.
