Anthony Chen Attached To Direct Movie Starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Sienna Miller

The last time 8days.sg spoke to Anthony Chen, the Singaporean filmmaker had just wrapped his Mainland Chinese debut film Breaking Ice and was about to start on his hush-hush English-language feature.

Well, the secret is now out.

Per Deadline, the Ilo Ilo helmer is attached to direct Secret Daughter, an adaptation of Shilpi Somaya Gowda’s bestselling novel, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Sienna Miller.

Published in 2010, Secret Daughter tells a global story through the eyes of two women interconnected by a child. Somer is a newly married physician in San Francisco who makes the devastating discovery that she will never be able to have children.

The same year in India, a poor mother makes the heartbreaking choice to save her newborn daughter’s life by giving her away. Kavita will be haunted by that decision every moment for the rest of her life.

Asha is the child who is adopted out of a Mumbai orphanage who binds the destinies of the two women. The novel follows both families, invisibly connected until Asha’s journey of self-discovery leads her back to India

According to the Deadline report, Amazon Studios is putting the deal together. Chopra Jonas last appeared in The Matrix Resurrections, while Miller will next star along Rupert Friend in the Netflix limited series, Anatomy of a Scandal, premiering on Apr 16.
