CHIJ St Joseph’s Convent Alums Pay Tribute To Pierre Png’s Late Dad, Who Used To Run A Drink Stall There

The post referred to “Uncle Dom” as "a very warm and caring father figure” who was "one of the most iconic people at SJC for many of us”.

On Monday (Nov 7) afternoon, Mediacorp actor Pierre Png, 49, took to his social media to mourn the passing of his dad, who turned 88 in August this year.

In his Instagram post, Pierre posted a throwback photo of his dad in his younger days, along with this short caption: "Thank you Daddy for teaching me the power of prayer. I look forward to the day that I get to see you again. Rest in Peace Daddy.”

Among the many netizens and celebs who have left their condolences include Xiang Yun, Benjamin Kheng, Dennis Chew and Felicia Chin.

A few hours after that, Pierre shared a screenshot of a Facebook post by a group on Facebook, consisting of alums from local girls' school CHIJ St Joseph’s Convent.

The post paid tribute to Pierre’s dad, whom they referred to as Uncle Dom.

In their post, they shared that he used to run a drinks stall in the school’s Hillside campus. The school moved to their new Sengkang campus in 2000.

Rest in peace, Uncle Dom.

"One of the most iconic people at SJC for many of us: He was a very warm and caring father figure we all grew so fond of. Uncle Dom, as we were all told to call him, was always kind and generous. He never scolded or was angry at us even when we were in our crazy teens. Or when we told silly jokes to him that probably didn’t make much sense,” the post read.

They went on to share that he often offered up fatherly advice to them, even giving out free ice cream and drinks when his fridge was under repairs.

"Even our SJCA [St Joseph’s Convent Alumnae] members who are now in their 70s fondly recall Uncle Dom. Always a smiling man at the Hillside Drive school canteen, where we got all our cold drinks, healthy fruits and desserts daily,” they added in their post.

"We will miss you Uncle Dom, we pray you will now find eternal peace and rest in Heaven. Thank you for being a stalwart of SJC, and one of SJCA’s best kept memories. If you do have time, bid your warm farewell to Uncle Dom,” the post concluded.

It's clear that Pierre's dad was an unforgettable presence for many ex-students of the school.

Pierre's Instagram post last year celebrating the birthday of his dad was filled with comments from SAJC alums reminiscing about how friendly and kind he was to them.
