Chris Pratt Is Too Scared To Play Indiana Jones, Worried He Would Be "Haunted By" Harrison Ford

Chris Pratt has long been rumoured as a likely candidate to play Indiana Jones, but he's too afraid to step to into his shoes because of what a comment Harrison Ford made in 2019.

Chris Pratt was scared off from playing Indiana Jones by Harrison Ford.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Pratt, 43, shot down rumours that he will be next in line to the indomitable archaeologist when Ford hangs up his fedora hat after the next Indiana Jones movie.

Pratt said: "No, aren't they doing Indiana Jones with Harrison Ford? All I know is once I saw a quote from Harrison Ford and I don't even know him but it was enough to scare me, that was like, 'When I die, Indiana Jones dies'. And I'm like, am I gonna get haunted by the ghost of Harrison Ford one day when he dies if I play...?"

The Jurassic World star was referring to a 2019 interview with NBC's Today with Ford where he suggested nobody could replace him as Indy.

Ford, who turned 80 last week, said then: "Don't you get it? I'm Indiana Jones. When I'm gone, he's gone. It's easy."

The yet-to-be-titled Indiana Jones wrapped production early this year under the aegis of James Mangold. Starring alongside Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, and Antonio Banderas.

In an interview with USA Today, Banderas recalled what it was like to be on the set of Indiana Jones 5 and see Ford in full costume for the first time.

"The first day I arrived, I was in the makeup trailer, and I turned around and there he was in the full Indiana costume with the hat and the whip," the Mask of the Zorror actor said. "Phoebe Waller-Bridge was there with him, too, and it was so cool.

"I still remember the first time I saw Indiana Jones in a theatre and the crowd was crazy about it. I thought, 'This is like going back to the old adventure [movies] in a completely different way.'"

Indiana Jones 5 opens in cinemas in June 2023. Pratti is currently starring in Jurassic World Dominion, Thor: Love and Thunder, and the Amazon Prime Video series The Terminal List— BANG SHOWBIZ
