Did Wang Leehom’s Ex-Wife Lee Jinglei Indirectly Apologise To Vivian Hsu In Her Latest Post?

The jury is out on this one.

It’s been a week since Wang Leehom’s ex-wife Lee Jinglei, 35, posted a damning exposé accusing the 45-year-old singer of compulsive cheating, emotional abuse and abandoning his family.

But what has turned out to be this year's ugliest and messiest divorce came to a close (we think) on Dec 20 when Leehom apologised and declared that he would “bear full responsibility” for the split.

Jinglei has also announced that she would no longer talk about that failed marriage in public.

In a statement posted yesterday (Dec 23), she addressed questions about her motive behind the exposé.

She started by saying that she had no choice but to expose Leehom for what he did.

“Till today, I haven’t received a sincere apology, and the blame seems to still be on me,” she wrote. “But it’s okay; perhaps we really need time to let things settle down (…) Getting an apology is important because if someone refuses to admit that they are at fault, they will remain unrepentant and push the blame onto someone else."

"I don’t hate him at all. I only wish him the best. I did all that so our children can have parents who are physically and mentally healthy, along with a complete and healthy environment to grow up in. Stop using my kids to emotionally blackmail me.”

Jinglei said that what children need are “not perfect parents, but honest and dependable parents who can bravely face their problems and change their ways”.

She also said she did not want to continue “getting slandered by family and friends” in order to protect Leehom. As for the house he offered her as a mea culpa, she clarified that she will not accept it.

“My motivation behind [exposing him] was never money nor revenge,” Jinglei wrote. “I believe in the law, so I trust that my children and I will get a reasonable division of assets when we go to court.”

At the end of her statement, she also apologised to “those who were innocently dragged” into the scandal.

"Those related to what happened have already paid a heavy price, and I hope that all of us can return to the peaceful lives we had after today. I hope that we would no longer get attacked nor bullied online. I apologise for disturbing the lives of the media and netizens. I hope that this is the end of the matter, and I wish that all of us will be able to heal the pain that our hearts have suffered.”

While Jinglei didn’t name who “those who were innocently dragged” into the scandal were, many are assuming she was talking about Vivian Hsu and that that line was an indirect apology to the star.

Vivian, 46, has seen her reputation and career take a nosedive after netizens assumed she was having an affair with Leehom following Jinglei's exposé .

Although Jinglei never outrightly called out Vivian, the hints she dropped easily helped netizens connect the dots.

And despite Vivian's repeated denials of any wrongdoing, as well as her husband’s impassioned declaration that he believes her and will stand by her, netizens still seem to believe what was alluded.

Now that Jinglei has called for a truce and issued what we think is an apology, we hope things will get better for Vivian.
