McDonald’s announced this morning that in light of Covid-19, they will be temporarily ceasing their delivery and Drive-Thru services from today till circuit breaker ends on May 4. This comes after the fast food chain recently stopped offering dine-in and takeaway services. As of yesterday (April 18), seven of McDonald’s employees who had worked at nine outlets were diagnosed with Covid-19, causing the company to close the outlets for deep-cleaning.

1 of 5 Some people saw the market opportunity

This means Singaporeans won’t get to enjoy McDonald's grub for… two weeks. But it may be too long to bear for McAddicts. In the meantime, Carousellers are stepping up to, er, cater to the demand. Just a couple of hours after news of McDonald’s complete closure broke, there were already listings for the Golden Arches’ Filet-O-Fish, McGriddles Stack and Curry Sauce at cutthroat prices on Carousell.

2 of 5 $50 McGriddles Stack

One scalper listed a McGriddles Stack for a whopping $50 (usual price from $6.20 a la carte), which he claims he had bought at 8.30am today. And to highlight its exclusivity, the seller also added that his offer is “valid till 1030hrs”.

3 of 5 $70,000 Filet-O-Fish

Another Carouseller listed a Filet-O-Fish (usual price from $3.20) for... $70k. And from the listing’s description, he appears to have considered this deal thoroughly.

  • 4 of 5 Frozen with 10/10 condition

The Carouseller explains that he had frozen the burger without tartar sauce “so the burger is less likely to spoil”, and is generous enough to “throw in a free chilli sauce packet” if you’d buy his $70k burger. But he later clarified that haha ofc [sic] all is a joke but someone really offer 70k (laughing emoji).

  • 5 of 5 $10 curry sauce

Or maybe you’d like to invest in two containers of Curry Sauce, going at $10 for two. According to the description, the sauce is a “rare piece. No nego.” Now you see what happens to a civilised society without McDonald’s.
