LA's Famed Egg Specialist Eggslut Opening In S'pore
It's brought in by the folks behind Shake Shack Singapore.
Famed egg-centric eatery Eggslut from Los Angeles is opening its first Singapore outlet next year. According to The Straits Times, the brand is brought in by Korean F&B company SPC Group, which also operates the Shake Shack and Paris Baguette chains here.
While the group has yet to confirm Eggslut Singapore’s location, it was reported that the outlet is slated to open “early next year”. Eggslut was originally founded in the US in 2011 as a food truck helmed by Filipino-American chef Alvin Cailan and his cousin Jeff Vales. The duo went on to open a dine-in space in 2013 at the Grand Central Market in LA, and also expanded worldwide. It now has 10 branches in the US, the UK, South Korea and Japan.
Eggslut apparently derived its cheeky name from an egg-obsessed chef who added an egg to every dish. It’s well-known for its egg sandwiches, which come with fluffy brioche buns and decadent cage-free eggs cooked several ways, like scrambled or sunny side up. Its signature Fairfax sarnie, for instance, has “cage-free soft scrambled eggs and chives, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and sriracha mayo in a warm brioche bun”. Yum.
It also offers an eponymous dish called Slut, which has coddled eggs and potato purée poached and served in a glass jar with baguette slices, as well as a la carte buttermilk biscuits “served with honey butter”.
Despite the dismal impact of Covid-19 on our local dining scene, not all is gloom and doom. Singaporeans can look forward to more new eateries in the later half of this year and 2021, including Luke’s Lobster (the New York lobster roll joint is also debuting its first Singapore branch this August).
