Elon Musk Denies Reports Of "Brief Affair" With Google Co-Founder's Wife, Claims "I Work Crazy Hours, So There Just Isn't Much Time For Shenanigans"

Elon Musk slammed reports of his "brief affair" with Google co-founder Sergey Brin's wife Nicole Shanahan as "character assassination attacks".

Elon Musk allegedly had a "brief affair" with Google co-founder Sergey Brin's wife. Nicole Shanahan.

The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday (July 24) that Musk had an affair with Google co-founder Sergey Brin's wife Nicole Shanahan in December 2021, which ultimately led to their divorce.

The alleged affair would have also taken place close to the time that Musk — who has a total of 10 children from various relationships — welcomed now-seven-month-old daughter Exa Dark with Grimes. The latter and the Tesla Motors CEO broke up in September 20201 after three years of dating.

The WSJ also explained that as a result of the affair, Musk — who was close friends with Brin for a number of years and is thought to have borrowed around US$500,000 (S$694,000) from him during the 2008 financial crisis — and his fellow multi-billionaire are allegedly no longer on speaking terms and that Brin intends to sell his personal investments in Musk's companies.

The WSJ reported: "In recent months, there has been growing tension between the two men and their teams, according to the people familiar with the matter. Mr. Brin has ordered his financial advisers to sell his personal investments in Mr Musk’s companies, some of those people said. It couldn’t be learned how large those investments are, or whether there have been any sales."

The outlet claimed to have contacted all parties involved for a comment on the alleged affair, but all requests went unanswered.

Back in January 2022, Brin cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the divorce and noted that December 15 2021 was their official date of separation.

News of the alleged affair comes just weeks after Shanahan claimed that she hoped to move on from the divorce with "dignity, honesty, and harmony."

She said: "I hope for Sergey and I to move forward with dignity, honesty and harmony for the sake of our child. And we are both working towards that."

Musk took to Twitter to respond to the WSJ report, saying, "This is total bs. Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night! I've only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around. Nothing romantic."

In another response, Musk tweeted: "Haven't even had sex in ages (sigh)."

In another tweet, Musk said, "the character assassination attacks have reached a new level this year, but the articles are all nothing-burgers. I work crazy hours, so there just isn't much time for shenanigans. None of the key people involved in these alleged wrongdoings were even interviewed!"
