Eric Tsang Was Once So Drunk At A Friend’s Wedding, He Told Guests To “Stand Up And Mourn In Silence” During His Speech

It’s no secret that Eric Tsang, 68, loves to drink. His drunken escapades are the stuff of lore and have made the news more times than the star would care to admit. Like last year, when he fell asleep in the middle of his own birthday party after having one too many drinks.

Recently, when he was a guest on a talk show, Eric opened up about the time he felt truly embarrassed about being intoxicated.

Yes, all those occasions he was photographed getting carried out of parties because he was too drunk to function don’t count, okay?

Not the first time Eric was so drunk, he had to be carried out of a party.

It happened during his pal Anna Ueyama’s wedding. According to Eric, the former TVB star, now 57, had him promise her that he would go on stage to say a few words no matter what was to happen over the course of the night.

“I told her, ‘Of course no problem!’ You know how good my alcohol tolerance is. Call me up on stage only when I’ve drank enough,” Eric said he told Anna before the wedding.

He was already tipsy by the time he was asked to give his speech, so the words that came tumbling out of his mouth shouldn’t surprise anyone.

But they did.

“I want to announce to everyone that I am very happy today because my good friend is getting married. Everyone understands marriage, right? Why don’t we all stand up and mourn in silence together!” Eric recalled saying on stage.

According to Eric, the vibe in the room turned cold and awkward and the guests did not know how to react to what the star just said.

Eric shared that Anna acted like nothing had happened after his speech. She knew he had too much to drink and wasn’t angry about what he said.

Anna’s marriage, however, ended up in divorce some years later.

And no, we don’t think Eric’s inauspicious speech had anything to do with it.
