Ex TVB Actor Wilson Lam, 61, Once Called One Of “Hongkong’s Most Handsome Men”, Age Shamed By Netizens
He left showbiz in 1996 to focus on his business but started a Douyin account this year.
It’s been a while since we’ve got a glimpse of ‘80s TVB heartthrob Wilson Lam Jun Yin.
The 61-year-old, who first joined showbiz in 1983, hit it big four years later with the drama, The Foundling’s Progress.
The success of the show and Wilson's subsequent works soon propelled him to join the ranks of other A-listers like Stephen Chow, Tony Leung, Leon Lai, Lau Ching Wan, and Deric Wan.
Named as one of the top actors in TVB then, Wilson also enjoyed fame as “one of Hongkong's most handsome men”, a title which was bestowed upon him by the media and audiences.
However, he retired from acting in 1996, to focus on his business.
Since then, he has largely stayed out of the spotlight. In 2014, he staged his acting comeback with the movie, The Suspicious.
And recently, it seems like he’s hopped on the social media bandwagon, with his very own Douyin account, which was created in March this year.
Runway model vibes
In a video, which was posted on Dec 7, the actor swaggers out of a building, clad in a leopard-print coat.
“Raise your head and stick your chest out, when you walk, walk with style. Your steps must be steady, and your gaze must be fierce,” read the caption.
Wilson back in his heyday
While some netizens did comment on Wilson’s swagger, a large number of them were more focused on his looks.
“My idol, why have you aged,” one netizen wrote, while another commented: “Now, I can hardly recognise Wilson Lam. You used to be a hunk, but your swagger is still there.”
He's super fit, okay?
Another netizen did not hold back at all, writing: “How did you age to this extent”.
The comment, which received 10.2K likes, also got a reply from Wilson, who wrote: “By international standards, I’m still a young man. I can still swim 50m in 28 seconds.”
Other netizens stood up for Wilson, with one writing: “Although he’s aged, his figure’s still good, and he’s still as handsome as ever. Natural [beauty] is the best”.
Wilson now and then. And honestly? He looks good now too
