First Four Indiana Jones Movies And Little-Seen Prequel TV Series To Land On Disney+ Before Dial Of Destiny Release

Starting May 31, adventure has a new home.

UPDATE: A Disney+ rep has informed us that The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones will not be available in Singapore. Still want to watch it? Got VPN Express?

Ahead of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’s world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and theatrical release worldwide next month, Lucasfilm announced on Wednesday (May 17) that the Indiana Jones catalogue will be on Disney+ starting May 31.

Harrison Ford stars as the fedora-wearing, whip-wielding archaeologist Indiana Jones in four movies —— 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark (the one about the Ark of the Covenant), 1984’s Temple of the Doom (the one about the death cult in India), 1989’s The Last Crusade (the one about the Holy Grail, with Sean Connery as Indy’s father), and 2008’s Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (the one about aliens, with Shia LaBeouf as Indy’s son).

Steven Spielberg directed the first four films, with James Mangold at the helm of Dial of Destiny, which Ford has said will mark his final turn as Jones. The movie also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen.

The catalogue also includes the rarely-seen The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, a collection of 22 features repackaged from The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles TV series, which ran for 28 episodes from March 1992 to June 1993, with four-made telemovies released between 1994 and 1996.

This is the first time the prequel series has been officially available in 15 years — it last came out on DVD in 2008.

The show looks at Jones’ early years with Sean Patrick Flanery and Corey Carrier portraying him in different stages of his life, as a teen and a tween, respectively.

It also features an elderly Indy, played by George Hall. Ford appeared in one episode, the 1950-set ‘Young Indiana Jones and the Mystery of the Blues’. At press time, no word on when the series will be launched.

Besides the upcoming Dial of Destiny, Lucasfilm is said to be developing a TV show for Disney+.

“They are still looking for a writer to take on the project, thus no plot details are available,” Variety reported in November. “Given that, it is unknown if a series would serve as a prequel to or spinoff of the film franchise, or if it would tie into the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones film, similar to how Disney has tied its Marvel shows on Disney+ into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny opens in cinemas on June 29.
