First Look: Christian Bale Raises Cosmic Hell As Gorr The God Butcher In Thor: Love And Thunder

The new trailer also gives us a closer look at Russell Crowe's Zeus.

Jack Neo’s Ah Girls Go Army sequel has an official title and a release date….no, wait, what do we have here? Thor: Love and Thunder has dropped another trailer.

This time, we catch a first look at Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher (hey, kids, it's Death from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure!), the main villain causing in Thor’s fourth solo movie.

The film — directed by Taika Waititi, who also helmed 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok — finds Thor on a journey, unlike anything he’s ever faced — a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the extinction of the gods.

To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend (Natalie Portman), who inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. The Guardians of the Galaxy play a role somewhere as well.

The new footage includes a closer look at Russell Crowe’s Zeus in a scene that promises to bring down the house — a glimpse of Thor butt-naked. The butt-cheeks are digitally covered in the trailer, but in the actual movie, they should look spectacular, pixelation-free, in IMAX. Hopefully. (Clean up on aisle five?)

Sharing the trailer on his Instagram account, Hemsworth wrote: “Very excited to drop this trailer! Here’s a two minute sneak peak (sic) into a crazy wild fun adventure that has alllll the love and thunder. On July 8 we’ll be giving you a full two hours of this beautiful madness. Until then enjoy the ride that is the Official Thor Love and Thunder trailer. Boom!!!!”
